Danni was put under a giant scanner today. It scanned Danni’s 3D shape from head to chest (I think) so later the data would be used to make an armour of her. She would have to wear the armour to the radiation. It helps to firm hold her body against movement to a precise hit.
Because Danni’s body reacted to first course chemo well, physician Mr. Li was planning to start the radiotherapy next week, but this was pending a blood test result tomorrow 18th.
We went back to Danni’s mums. It was only 6 days away, and Ryan grew more.
We agreed that he was definitely gained more height. He eats well too, like a hungry piglet all the time.
I have done some research on the effect of Aloe Vera Gel on radiation skin care. Great findings.
A Chinese research paper published March, 2004 clinic trail on applying Aloe gel to NPC patients during radiation treatment.
A US clinic study (2001) on the effect of aloe vera gel/mild soap versus mild soap alone found that ‘at low cumulative dose levels < or =" 2,700"> 2,700 cGy), the median time was five weeks prior to any skin changes in the aloe/soap arm versus three weeks in the soap only arm. When the cumulative dose increases over time, there seems to be a protective effect of adding aloe to the soap regimen.’
Although this is not without controversial in the academy domain: Aloe Vera for Preventing Radiation-induced Skin Reactions: A Systematic Literature Review (Clinical Oncology September 2005, Pages 478-484), research did agree that using ‘plant-based treatments there does not appear to be side effects such as may occur with steroids.’ (Novel approaches to radiotherapy-induced skin reactions: A literature review Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice, November 2005, Pages 224-231).
I think the Chinese research use NPC patient for study is because the comparison is significant because radiation on NPC damages the most delicate skins around neck and chest.
My takeaway from this is good at best, but at least no harm – better than chemical creams). In fact, Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead UK recommended it to breast cancer patients.
Quickly I ordered some from Holland & Barrett. Expecting they will come in May, I asked Danni’s sister to help to order some from taobao.com, Chinese equivalent of eBay. Some vendor has channelled this in China and ready to arrive in two days time.
My mother’s Aloe plant was saved from being picked.

I think TBS and AA both have Aloe Vera Gel. Probably Danni can try the product from AA. She knows about this.
